They did. Did you not watch this video? Where I'm from there is quite a lot of North Africans and they have lost their daqhan completely. They legit think their Arabs when they have a rich cultural history existing before they got domesticated by Arabs.

They didn't : pre-islamic maghreb was already composed of different confederations, different dialects, some were culturally berbers and others were romanized (a rural minority still talked a dialect of punic). The libyan script itself showed variation between west/east and it was also diverse in terms of religions : catholicism (maghrebis actually gave birth to catholicism), judaism, Polytheism, manichaeism and maybe zoroastrianism too.


Also haven't you watched the video ? They actually expelled arabs from their lands already 30 years after the conquest and it took arabs around 60-70 years to completely conquer the region while the middle east was conquered in a matter of a few years. Many north africans today are arabized not because of "domestication" or "domination" but because of socio-religious reasons especially the social impact of the hilali tribes who settled there during the XIth century. These arabs were also defeated but they still culturally influenced urban maghrebis because arabic was viewed as a prestigious and sacred language.
