Berbera corridor is falling apart! Massive corruption

The port of Berbera has suffered a 70% decline as commercial traders offload their goods elsewhere. Picture below shows a decline in Marine activity near the port.

The bridge that connects Hargeisa to Berbera was damaged by heavy rainfall. the company that constructed this bridge used cheap materials and the Somaliland administration looted much of the funds

This is how foreigners treat you if you let them come in and build. And on top of that Somaliland is getting less than 25% of the share, how does it create jobs for the landers? Can someone explain?

That's what happens when you think some foreigners will come to your country, genuinely help you and build you infrastructure. They won't.

They put a lipstick on a pig. Wtf was that kind of a construction for a bridge. Somaliland is extremely corrupted.
I heard majority of the monet from the government isnt being distributed properly. Doesnt the president make almost a million a year ?

Politics aside, this is a good project, and a small setback. We have seen at Marka a few years ago, where they 'spent' 4 million USD in constructing a small runway only to be swept away by floods shortly thereafter. Let it be a warning to other construction projects elsewhere.

UAE seems to have a history of making lucrative ports useless in Somalia and elsewhere
UAE would be at a financial loss if there were functioning ports in northern Somalia. Even Djibouti is aware of the sabotage going on, that’s why IOG said he isn’t threatened by Berbera Port taking Djibouti market share

No matter how much u guys hate siyad but anything he touched turned to quality. The main highway lasted 50 rain cycles and continous load for longer then 30 years, where-as what is built post 91 won't even last 1 rain cycle let alone 50. Imagine the homes that r built post 91, I would be very 'weary' and test the home n look for 'internal cracks'

I am suprised at the lack of accountability where govt awards contracts to a bunch of tuugo who under-deliver, no takin to court, no black list database on that company, you need punishment laws when ppl commit fraud or else the good companies have no reason to do good work if the govt is allowing the frauds to exist. Start cancelling out 'tuugo' companies, let them eat well once but never allow them any govt contract as punishment, this is good for all the market when the bad ones are weeded out, it will lead to a competent market place.

I already predicted the market place with consumer law, product quality laws, civil courts to handle contract laws, the market place who has these embedded will be the leading market place in somalia and possibly africa, the whole african market will switch over to your market becuz they can trust your products n goods and your strong market laws. I suggested this to puntland but those guys are 'dinosaurs' and won't switch their market operation 'tactics'. They prefer to work hard and under-deliver leading to no market growth as people will just leave and not return for more trade.

The infrastructure plans the old government did were meticulously planned, how the national highway would be, which will areas will provide the most efficient economic value, quickest routes, how roads can handle weather conditions.. every detail was checked It's simply impressive Wallahi, I don't think any other African country had the same detailed planning and future thinking as the old Somali gov. This why I always say the old system was a mix of capitalism and socialism like the Chinese system of today, the gov knew livestock and food exports would be so roads, dams and other important things were built first with excellent quality that was guaranteed to last

Where are all the intelligent people today who can come up with a comprehensive and detailed planned to economically integrate everyone and build good infrastructure?

They think their 'hariifs' when they do 'fraud n cheating' no joke waxay isku haystan 'caqlilow' loooool but don't see u will simply lose trade n customers when u scam them once, leading to a dead-end cycle for yourself as everyone stays away from you, plus if ur whole economy is based on that, then your country as a whole remains in poverty.
