Being A Highschool Dropout And Still Successful?....

Is it possible?
Yes but very unlikely.

Good jobs and opportunities you get from already successful people you know. Which the average dropout doesn't. And on top of that, having a degree/certificate is the standard to enter majority fields. Which you wouldn't have as a dropout.

Most don't get far in life. The 1% people bring up have other things going for them that just aren't present in the average dropout. Of course if you are already in a field as a part time and you decide to drop out and keep working in that field. Like in a restaurant and working up to being a chef sort of thing. Then it could work. But the people who drop out generally tend to just be bums and losers.

You always see the front of my sixth form college/ high-school for USAers. Filled with losers who got kicked out or dropped out and have nothing to do all day so they wait outside for their friends to finish lessons and chat to them. They be waiting out their in the cold for hours cause they are that much of a bum with nothing going on in life.

People say “school is not important people like bill gates dropped out”.

When they eventually drop out all they do is chill around their house smoking weed and playing video games.

when bill gates dropped out he left HARVED to start MICROSOFT.

For the average joe taking the school route is a easy way to assure a higher wage later in life. Unless you have a great plan for alternative route. Most people considering dont and should just pick the safe option.

Except for Steve jobs and Steve Wozniak.

These two had a humble beginning and started their company in a garage.

Remember: in the 1970’s it was cool to drop out of school.

Those were the decades where counter culture were a thing; going against anything “corporate” were seen as liberating.

I never understood why people keep using Bill as an example considering his parents were rich; and Paul Allen (his co founder) parents were considered as librarians.

These two (both Gates and Allen) grown in a private school together so they already started from the top.

Jobs actually admitted: though he dropped out, he did admit with out learning calligraphy in Reed college he wouldn’t In vision by incorporating beautiful typography and intuitive design into the computer's user interface.

Is this a America only thing where finishing high school is really important? A bunch of my mates dropped out at year 10 and went to trade school and became tradies working at their relatives businesses and they turned out fine. It was better for them too cause they weren’t the best academically so they didn’t end up waste an extra two years.

Yes but it depends what you mean by that. Most students who do this tend to go straight into apprenticeship and work 4 years. They earn good wages in their early 20s once they become licensed so if you know what you’re doing then you’ll be fine.

And on top of that, having a degree/certificate is the standard to enter majority fields.
Those who finish trades apprenticeship won’t have problem entering higher construction cert courses. They upskill to site managerial roles, surveyor and inspector etc.

Electrical, refigerator and metal etc workers who finished their apprenticeship can hope into certain engineering degree.
