Beauty of lower juba region

We are gonna need some papers there adeer.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I don't trust any of these Marehan land claims in that entire region. I remember when Huuraale was there, locals would be coerced into selling their land. So, they weren't just stealing, some of them were being slick and getting papers. Probably planning for the eventuality of being kicked out one day.

I agree with this move, places of natural beauty should not be privatised. That's how countries turn into ugly slums, with the rich having all the nice land and poor crammed into ugly plots.
The government already prevents people from building there. Most of the stone buildings in the village are abandoned from the old arab families that lived there.

You can get farmland but its not very productive apparently something to do with saltwater coming back or poor soil @Abaq probably understands more about that

Juba Rivers name comes from the Arabic pronunciation of Goobweyn. It used to be a major port before the Portuguese/Oromos destroyed it.

The amount of people who claimed back their properties is insane. Kismaayo was the capital of squatters after xamar.

What I would love to see is Jubbaland Government reclaim Guulwadde Military land from the squatters or make them pay rent. I don't understand why these thieves are being coddled. It's not like they're needed!

I find it disturbing how Arabs manage to get fertile land wherever they go, Somalis need to start scrutinising these people and stop new ones from coming with their "akhi" bullshit. Apparently, certain crops grow with saltwater, but I don't think it's worth turning Goobwayn into something other than a Natural Park. Somalis already don't take into account public spaces when building towns and cities, which is a shame.
