As for the Iiddoor, they did igu sawir in Gaashaamo. No one asked for them to come. Today, our kin from Qabridaharre have arrived in Wardheer. They along with Makahiil will take care of mediation and both sides will have to abide by whatever decision is reached. We have our own mechanisms and don’t need Iiddoor

Maybe. It’s growing very fast with many diaspora returning and building houses. Also, now that there’s peace in the region many people from the countryside are going there for better opportunities

It’s the new parliament of the Somali region, built by the current Somali regional administration.

Possibly. Jigjiga is growing at a higher speed than Dir Dhaba, which currently is going through a stalemate of some sort. Dir Dhaba is financially f*cked, ever since the current governance structure was implemented in the 90s.

Since Dir Dhaba is a federal charter city/region, they don’t get extra budget support that other states get. A significant portion of its local taxes remains with the gov’t as well. (Reminds me of Xamar’s relations to FGS). Addis have a similar status, but since it’s the capital it gets extra attention, preventing similar fate.

You may remember in the beginning of the year when it was talked about the possibility of Dir Dhaba becoming part of Oromia; that happened after Dir Dhaba’s federal MP brought this issue to the parliament. He was told that it can only happen through a constitutional amendment (unlikely) or become part of a regional state.
