Because they are the seamen families meaning some of them are fifth generation and other used to go and come for past 100 years, I will post the link. Most of them are from North Somalia (Warsanageli, issaq, Dhulbahanta who are little compared to rest)

The British needed workers at that time and they recruited Somalis, first Somalis went to Aden because the Yemen were backward at that time, Aden was full of Somalis and Indians. From there Somalis joined the British ships and traveled around the world.

They love the British empire. They always bring up the colonial times. I knew a Welsh Somali who lived here (she's now back home) and she always spoke about colonial times in a positive manner. She is immensely proud of this era.

They love the British empire. They always bring up the colonial times. I knew a Welsh Somali who lived here (she's now back home) and she always spoke about colonial times in a positive manner. She is immensely proud of this era.

For simply reason, after killing (genciode ) of dervish state. The British treated the Somalis with respect. Those old men lived good life. They opened small business married English and Irish women had families. They even had their Somali clubs in London. Later at age 45 they went back to Somalia and married Somalis wives and built house and farm/ store. And spend their life in peace. Their Somalis kids went to universities in UK. Those young kids who joined the SYL and freed Somalia and later built the modern Somalia in 60s. Respect them.
