So he means them owning the capital gives them power to hold nation hostage and or exclude other clans from SFG?

If so then That's the most childish shit ive ever heard in politics, im really curious what they expect to gain if they actually do!

It's only the capital that FSG collects TAX revenue from
Despite the fact, there are FMS that collect TAXES

Feel so bad for the residents of Mogadishu who are actually held hostage and being exploited :reallymaury:
Remind us how many MPs and Upper House members do Banadir region get? :tacky:

The only active actors are Hawiye and Darood each with 61 seats. Rahanweyn have no actual state or power to project, thier MPs are mercenaries who vote for whomever pays them higher, their constituencies are joining Al Shabaab and politically inept with weak state of KG.

The Dir in southern Somalia are exactly the same, they're powerless scattered minorities who lack a strong state. The political wight of Dir lies within Isaaq, Gudabursi and Issa who make up 46 of the Dir 61 seats. Somaliland MPs are all but puppets voting for the highest bidder and don't engage in Somalia's policies. Somaliland state is busy running the ictiraf charade for 30 years persuing isolationist policy.

This leaves Darood who compete with Hawiye on the national stage each side/candidate has backers. Puntland is the only truly strong state in Somalia and it's led by Darood. Jubaland is a weak state in comparison but they both promote Darood intrests against Hawiye.

Hawiye's advantage is Mogadishu's seat of government and the influence they could project there. Do you honestly believe if Hawiye did not vote Farmajo to become a president he'd last this long?

They get all the benefits of being the capital and most aid. The money FGS collects funds their own Hawiye FMS. Where else does the FGS spend their tax money?

Oh I'm sorry, lets disregard the 1 billion Turkey poured into Mogadishu in the name of Somalia including roads, hospitals, schools and other critical updates, let alone by Qatar.

no GIF by Desus & Mero

By the way that money is not Mogadishu tax, it's world bank and international grants.

That money is transferred from the FGS account and then dispersed to FMS:reallymaury:
The figure for the world bank and international grants is much much higher for FMS :tacky:

We're here to discuss how Mogadishu is funding the gov whilst other states don't pay a penny.
Name a nation where the central gov can't impose federal TAX across the country or collect import TAX from ports :damnmusic:

Long live the paper state of FGS :liberaltears:

Still a childish logic!

Their own political miscalculation caused disadvantage you mention seeing only dishonest and xaasid way darood civilwar using Farmaajo when there was the easy halaal way get huge advantage.

They didn't expect farmaajo employing afweynes old advisors or creating alliances with Fahad winning Qatar or habash opposition that replaced TPLF. They especially didn't expect xoogaga wadaaniniyinta movement. Only wars to happen was on their own with main stronghold xamar weakened.

When in power had they instead listened to PL calls for Supreme Court, finish constitution and not rush creating HS & GM or without locals included would have got them Benaadir Admin and all its seatsπŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

Why not do the easy yet honorable course PL even nagged about cutting ties several times.:jcoleno:

Blame 2 native president Sheekh Sheekh in his defence busy liberating Xamar. HSM was hands on with HS & GM didn't same show interest in Benadir!

The Tax issue is HSM fault by refusing complete resource sharing law and calls for a FMS+Benadir oversight comnitte after the huge bank scandal of ppl walking in and out national bank with $$$ no questions asked!

Farmaajo made election promises to resolve both issues still nothing.
