BBC Africa Eye documentary: Somalia, Sexism and Me

Answer my questions:

Lol, in nearly every situation of the issues of Somalis, there has been documentaries from the war to the Qarxiis conducted from certain groups, yet Somali men going on camera talking about it, which sadly makes the country is look bad doesn't seem to be an issue, but the moment when the other 50% of Somalis talk about their personal experiences as well, that is when you care about your country reputation?! Please explain how these documentaries about qarxis, corruption and poverty helps Somalis?

Qarxis led by Al-Shabaab and other terrorist groups are reported in the news. That is normal in any society. However, the lack of equality between men and women exist in all societies, and certainly in the African continent and in many other countries. It is not something unique to Somalis.

Take for example our nearest neighbors: Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Eritrea, and Sudan. The status of women from these African countries is no different than that of Somalia. However, you don't see them always putting their stories in Western media and you don't see them posting their private parts in social media when complaining about female circumcision even thpugh it is practiced in most of these countries. That is because the women from our African neighborhood have class and understand the shame that it brings to their societies.

On our (Somali) end, Somali feminists misunderstood the whole meaning of feminism. Your and others' whole motto is go onto spotlight in order to "shame" Somali men. You think you're winning brown-points when you all bring is shame.

That being said, I applaud any genuine effort to fix the issues we (Somalis) face at society level and at governance level. But I see the half-hearted efforts of some women who love to be on the spotlight in their effort to point the finger at men.

This is why I see you as a hypocrite. Also, what does this have to do with marrying an ajnabj?! I'm not married to one, nor do I intend to. This is a conversation about the mistreatment of women back home. I frequently go back, i'm a woman if you haven't noticed, so the issues we have as a community obviously effect me since well... I'm a woman.

I can read between the lines. I've had a presence in different platforms and frankly can easily spot people. Nevertheless, people can choose whom they share their lives with. That is entirely their choice. But when some marry out, coming back and have an obsession with Somali men is frankly dumb and attention-seeking.

Someone should have firm control on Somali men. The moment they are given too much freedom they chew khat, abuse women and kill each other over qabil, their image in the media is really embarrasing.

See how you sound? The video was to highlight issues Somali women face and here you are attacking them for no reason.

Most decent people want life in Somalia to improve for women but you seem to want to silence their voices and control them. If your response to women saying they want to be treated equally is they shouldn't have freedom because xyz then you're just a misogynist.

Re-read what I wrote, you weirdo gaalad. In every comment, I stated that I applaud every genuine effort at grass-roots level to change how we treat our women, our poor, IDPs, and we treat each other as a society. I look at women like Hawo Abdi who did a phenomenal work in Somalia and many others.

That being said, when I see gaal-inspired schemes on Somalis or Western-based feminists who want to apply what they learned from their atheist professors in those gender studies courses, that is where I draw the line.

Right now, you're accusing me of all sorts of things just for saying, why is it an issue for women to talk honestly about their day to day experiences? Its okay for people to talk about security issues, poverty ect, but we can't talk about our issues.

You even posted a video of a billa xishood girl in a thread about women's mistreatment as a way to undermine Somali women issues. Actually reflect on how you're also an issue. If you really cared about Somali reputation, why are you quick to repost a video of a Somali girl shaming herself?! That is what I mean about not caring about Somali 'ceeb', this is merely your misguided attempts to silence women.

Your hypocrisy is disgusting. What person that cares about ceeb and the Somali imagine, will repost a video of a Somali woman misbehaving on a platform that attracts thousends?!

You've actually just exposed yourself.

The video is posted in Tiktok, which is a platform that has a far audience. How posting it here is disgusting when millions of people are viewing it in Tiktok.

Any how, it was talking with you.
