I understand the desire to be equitable to fellow compatriots. However, let us not conflate genetics, linguistics, culture and ethnicity.

With the Somali Bantu, the primary distinction other than appearance is that their SSA admixture is mostly Central African, South East African or West African with nominal, if any, amounts of Cushitic admixture (this varies considerably). In comparison, the general ethnic Somali has no admixture from Bantu-speaking groups. Nor are there any linguistic affinities. One initially spoke a Niger-Congo (B) language, and the other Speaks an Afro-Asiatic language. The comparison would be like Indo-European v. Sino-Tibetan. That is extremely divergent.

The Gaboye are actual ethnic Somalis yet receive less political attention. Some issue with certain Afroasiatic communities is that they look down on artisan groups more skilled in craftsmanship than them.

As things stand, Somali Bantus are less Cushitic admixed than the Kikuyu in Kenya (another Bantu-speaking group).

Oromo are also mistreated in Somali/a/land and are Eastern Cushitic like Somalis.

Afars are Eastern Cushitic speakers, too and are unliked by some Somalis, namely, the Cissa.

We do not need to pretend they are ethnically Somali when they have very little Somali admixture, except for some outlier populations. We can respect and treat them as citizens, but let us not try to force Somali supremacy on them and attempt to assimilate them and obscure their difference just because we feel guilty for how many of them came into Somalia.

I am also well aware that Somalis view other Somalis as opposition. I'm well-versed in their evolving alliances and inter-and-intra clan conflicts.​
