Yea I read that over time the distinction between Hutu and Tutsi became more about class than ethnicity. Wealthy Hutus were able to assimilate into Tutsi society while the opposite happened to poorer Tutsis. But I think the Tutsi themselves know who is assimilated and who is nasab
