Bamboo can grow in sub saharan africa and is a very useful plant to grow and not to mention the fact that it is readily available as we can get them from our neighbouring countries. The most interesting part about the article listed below is that it highlights that bamboo plants actually prefer tropical conditions, grow at a fast rate (1m per day in some species) and they actually help to improve the quality of the soil. Not to mention it can be used to produce wood and can be used by Retarded shabaab for charcoal instead of them cutting down trees and never replanting them. They bamboo is the fastest growing tree and can provide a farmer with lots of income and require little to no maintenance.

Commercially, bamboo is used for furniture and a variety of building and roofing materials, from fencing poles to veneer, floor tiles, panels for walls and ceilings, scaffolding material, door and window frames and window blinders.

In the paper and pulp industry, bamboo can be made into newsprint, toilet paper and cardboard, which would help to conserve Africa’s finite resources, such as its forests. The textile, food and chemical industries convert bamboo into fabrics, T-shirts, wine, vinegar, biochemicals and pharmaceuticals.

Domestically bamboo is used to make mats, baskets, canoes, fishing kits, bicycles, fences, toothpicks, school desks, pencils and rulers, to name just a few products.

Bamboo is also a source of bio-energy. A majority of sub-Saharan African households use firewood or charcoal made from timber for cooking, often leading to deforestation, land degradation and indoor pollution. As the population in Africa increases, the massive harvesting of firewood and charcoal will be unsustainable, according to INBAR. Bamboo provides a clean and renewable energy alternative in the form of charcoal briquettes and wood for domestic and industrial use.

I know this educational thread won't be picked up by geeljires allergic to knowledge but please spread the word to your family members that own farms and maybe buy them bamboo seeds for their birthday. I have delivered the message all you have to do is work with me towards the endeavour to re-green somalia. I myself will plant some in my grandfather's farm.

@DR OSMAN @Factz Mods how do i tag everyone in??

How long does sit take bamboo to grow
3 years to mature but they can be harvested in the second year. Once the roots sink deep all you have to do is cut them and harvest them and they will re-grow from the root meaning that they require less maintenance. They grow 1m per day.
