It's shocking how I know so many somali families who have at least 1 autistic kid. It's very scary stuff. We need to raise more awareness to this issue me and others around me are seeing an increase!

Why out of all communities we are affected the most?

I read a paper ages ago saying that autism is high in our community mainly due to how homogeneous we are, but I don’t know if that’s true either. Our people haven’t mixed with others since the Neolithic age, I believe.

You don’t necessarily need the sunlight for vitamin d, you know? It just one option to get your daily Vitamine d but there so many other sources for that. So it’s not the jillbab that is Problem and frankly it’s just an easy answer to an difficult illness.

There’s been a vaccine scare in the US bc some British quack traveled around and got it into Somalis’ heads that it was the vaccines causing autism in their children.

It's genectic I think even Somalis back home have it we have loads of mental illness with no somali names doo that's why they get shocked in the west
