ATMIS

Somalia's instability is these peoples meal plans. They have no incentive to leave. These other Africans are getting paid a pretty penny to basically protect the airport. Everytime Alshabaab captures a hotel, there is some miskeen Somali army boys being sent in with the worst weaponry and protection to basically die. Like what do these people do for us ...truly.

You, along with most Somalis, don't seem to understand what the ATMIS is actually doing. ATMIS is THE ONLY THING standing between Alshabab and Villa Somalia. The SNA can take back a hotel, but they cannot hold out against Alshabab in Lower Shabelle or Bay the way ATMIS have over the past 15 years.

If ATMIS leave, the Somali government collapses in the same week. The SNA has no logistics, no training, no officer corps etc.. they can attack Alshabab, but they cannot hold territory.

Do you want Somalia to become Afghanistan?

If ATMIS is the only thing standing between Alshabaab and the Somali state, then what is even the point of maintaining this failed state.

Its interesting you bring up Afghanistans old government, an administration once protected with the strongest standing army on the planet with the influx of billions of dollars in support , unable to both protect and visualize a future for itself. Nobody believed in the state of Afghanistan - not even themselves, they were led by a corrupted, insipid leadership with an army hooked on opium. The different ethnic and religious groups constantly undermining each other. Many parallels with the Somali government but without the diversity and Alshabab being vastly weaker than the taliban both militarily and socially. As much as I'd hate it - (i'm a woman), let Alshabab have their foot on everyones neck in Somalia, maybe just maybe we might learn.
I think foreign involvement is only elongating a process that we should have figured out on our own. 30 + years with not much progress in political thought and progress in the country is a sure sign whatever we are doing is not working. The Alshabab excuse is a lie we like to tell ourselves as Somalis that our political system holds any weight. If Alshabab were to magically disappear tomorrow, I doubt Somalia's political situation would look too different.

The choice isn’t between ATMIS and AS, the choice is between another 15 years of AS or a 100,000 strong Somali army (which is what the funding that goes to useless ATMIS could support).

I won’t support it happening until Deni wins the next election, but AMISOM has wasted millions of dollars and thousands of lives on a delusion. A strong Somali army is the only salvation.

The main problem is not ATMIS. the main issue is our corrupt politicians and their inability to put aside their own greed and incompetence. That along with tribalism is what’s keeping this country down. HSM, Madoobe. Deni etc they are all incompetent and utterly useless, but they have the support of their clans so they are free to do what they like. Al Shabaab is nothing, if these factors were addressed probably they will fall quite easily. But unfortunately (for the time been) that will never happen due to ignorant Buffoons who would rather see their clan prevail instead of their nation. Im sick of seeing these same posts, posted over and over again. If you want change, be the change. Put your nation ahead of everything but Islam, and I guarantee you will see change in that country.

Don’t be surprised when others take advantage of you, but continue to not rectify the situation.

False Banaadir would be defended SNA have proven themselves in HS, Mog-Hargeysa road is open after over a decade closure. ATMIS is symbolic presence they don't leave their bases anymore when's the last time they done offensives? Without their presence AS will lose their whole argument of them fighting gaalo, their support base will rapidly crumble. I expect them to stay until KGS and Jl is secured which is AS powerbase it will be much harder than HS and GM just due to terrain so ATMIS will be heavily involved in those operations. all while SNA gets larger thousands was just sent to Egypt while Eritrean trained ones are returning. America to train more danab which is by far Somalia's most valuable troops.
