ATMIS literally cannot stay longer than 2024, Europe is bankrupt and can’t pay them to sit around in bases.

Kenyan president already said that Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda will keep their troops in Somalia after ATMIS.

Further explanation here. The 6 month mandate = continuing the pull out. Had they not extended that would’ve meant the transition plan was cancelled.

2,000 in June (this month) has left completing the last mandate. The next mandate is 2,000 in September and 3,000 in December.

We’ll get another mandate in Nov/Dec for the the April 2024 5,000 pull out
