Asking your parents about qabiil...

All in the title, how come the minute you start discussing qabiil to your parents all of the sudden it goes awkwardly quiet and it seems like their covering or hiding something from us.
Everytime I bring it up they just rush the convo and get to the point or sometimes not at all, why is this so sensitive and yet they can sit there for hours shouting about qabiils over the phone to some relative in somalia?

They know it's toxic, it's a big reason why Somalis are in a dire situation. Your parents likely want better for their child.

My parents didn't want me to learn about qabil but I learned by eventually forcing it out of them and learned from other sources (extended family, fellow tribesmen, internet, etc.).

yeah somali parents typically like to keep it a secret but just discuss in private with their parents instead of us I think overall it might be for the better of our future so we dont have to worry about petty things like qabiil

I don't know about y'all but my parents would scold me if I don't get my abtiris right as young as age 10, I had to count 28 odayaal to my sub clan, knowing your tribe is not a bad thing as stated by the Koran but using tribalism is a sin and immoral.

Similar from my fam, they looked down on qabiil talk.

my family is religious and dont engage in nonsensical primitive tribal talk, my tuulo is better than your tuulo childhood nonsense.

It's a taboo subject, it's sort of like how parents don't want you to date but they wan't you get married ASAP. It's a non verbal way or saying, go out there and learn for urself :)
