Its really surprising. I didn't think that Somalis were the type of people to fall victim to that. All the Somalis I know are proud to be black. I have heard of Senegalese and Nigerians bleaching their skin, but never would I imagine that Somalis could share this view.
They seem too strong of a people for that kind of nonsense. At least I would think so....

unfortunately social media has brought out the worst in our people. as you have said all the Somalis I know are proud to be black and always hang around with other black people.
a lot of the users on here are young and are only just starting to feel comfortable in their own skin as Somalis and one of the methods they have found that makes them feel special and proud about themselves is by looking down and insulting other blacks.
I believe they will grow out of this phrase as they get older.
99% of Somalis I know in real life especially the young generation are proud to be black and love being black. This forum represents the worst of us and they all congregate here for a reason.

But Somalia is indeed special. Along with the greater Africa, for Somalia IS Africa. I think we need to focus on connecting in regards to our own heritage and build even greater connections through commonalities, trade, and culture as a race.
Some of my relatives in Europe believe that we Tamasheq are also somehow "different"
However, I have NEVER experienced that supposed distinction because I have ALWAYS been perceived as black by non-Tamasheq.
