Art in historical Somali figures/locations

Why is there such a lack of it?
So many historical figures I read but no art done on them. Even the ones we have on ahmad gurey commonly used aren't even based on him.

Also the Ajuuran empire ruled much of Somalia from the 1200s to the late 1700s yet we have little artwork for that as well? Somali artists need to step up.

Art isn't permissible by our faith thus there are no portraits of Ahmad Gurey or any Somali figure. I think the art we use conveys the same feelings though especially this one.

But unfortunately we only have historical documents and flags. Personally I like the flags, I don't need to see an image of imam Ahmad to know he's a glorious leader.

Imagine there were art about Ahmed gurey conquering Ethiopia like this Caesar painting it would have been great . Sadly Apart from Europe few cultures depict their history with Art

Art and statues is suprisingly not that common in many cultures/civilizations. Some ancient peoples like greeks and romans went crazy with it however.

Paintings became more of a thing during the renissance.
