Arsenal releases a propaganda video from their attack

Those 2 regions are gone for the foreseeable future, forget about it. It would basically take Ethiopia commiting genocide to dislodge them from there. You think Somalis have the stomach for that?
Your right I’ll be hard to dislodge shabaab from jubbada dexe since the whole gobol is forested and is basically a jungle.

But your wrong shabaab can’t take on constant shelling and air strikes. These guys are just dacas wearing wielding ak47 luugo baasto.

Aren't Ethiopians supposed be deployed to that impossible mission? Hopefully, all other regions are completely liberated before continuing there, so they are surrounded from all corners. Not to forget about trying to maintain a safe passage for civilians to leave these areas prior to engaging with them (if possible, without sabotage from AS). Afterwards, let the Ethiopians sacrifice themselves, so there are minimal casualties of Somali lives.

Here is a rough map of control. It's been 15 years since Ethiopia went into Somalia, there is still no end in sight. The question then becomes, which regions can still be saved. The SNA are strugging on flat terrain in Galgaduud and that's with local support and airstrikes

I see no chance for Middle Juba, LS and Bay to be liberated this decade. Depending on how the next 2 years go, you could even add Bakool and Eastern Galgaduud to that list. You can't substitute for Asabiyah

What are you supposed to even say with a map looking like this?!?! :farmajoyaab:

The only way we can move to the south is by making sure that all lands in central Somalia are not only liberated, but also maintaining and not loosing them under any circumstances. How hard is it to prevent AS raids in places where AS barely has any presence?

Also, considering the support they have from local clans and clan elders, as much as I don't like to entertain this idea, the only way forward seem to be negotiating with them, even if they're not open to it.

Middle juba can be freed if it’s attacked from bay, gedo, lower shabeel and lower juba.

The problem is HSM should have started phase 1 in jubaland and koonfur galbeed doing this shabaab forced would have been depleted since most of there leaders, planning, intelligence, weapons are mostly in these two states.

you could have Kenya attack from gedo/lower juba and Ethiopia attack from bay/bakool/gedo and Uganda from lower shabelle.

then phase 2 would be easier in central Somalia since shabaab would have been depleted it would have been easier this way.

Eliminating AS completely from GM and HS is a must. I think Somali gov has a chance if they siege AS after this phase.

What I mean by that is the government forces should free lower jubba and Bakool fully. Also clearing AS from the border of Kenya. Clearing AS fully in shabellada hoose in areas ”controlled” by FGS too. Establishing land bridge from Xamar to Baidoa by clearing the highway and its surroundings. All of this is doable imo, there is just no political will.

That would leave middle jubba, western Bay and parts of LS not connected to the coast. Sieging this area, bribing the clans living and killing the leaders would suffice.

The real question is why is Amisom poorly equipped and getting destroyed by drug addict khawarijs . How is Amisom using the millions of dollars they get ? If they can't even defend their own soldiers how are they supposed to be useful to Somalia? Time for Amisom to leave. If I was Ugandan i would be angry that the government is sending ugandans to die in a foreign land

Truth be told the gov will never be able to beat Al shabab through violence, there is a reason they aint found in the north. There’s way too many marginalized groups in south who much rather be under al shabab than the mercy of other Somalis. So let’s adress the elephant in the room it’s been 33 bloody years.

You cant defeat an idea with more bullets even the mighty russian army couldn't destroy the wahabi funded militia

"How do you defeat an enemy who looks into the barrel of a gun and sees paradise?" - Anonymous Russian Commander, Fighting the Mujahideen

How to defeat al-Shabaab:
1. Establish an effective judiciary system.
2. One person one vote.
3. don't antagonize Islamic teachings.
4. Establish the gov't of the people, not the government of certain clans.
5. The gov't delivers services in every location.
6. No corruption.
This will make majority of people living under al shabaab to have more trust in the government and rat out every last terrorist, which will force the organisation to go underground
