A woman began assaulting officers after a crash while she was seated inside an ambulance, Saturday afternoon. Officers responded along with firefighter paramedics to reports of a traffic collision at the intersection of College Way and College Grove Drive around 12:11 AM. Units arriving on scene found a two vehicle traffic collision with one patient trapped inside a vehicle. Using power tool and the jaws of life firefighters quickly extricated the trapped patient before transporting them to an area hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, described as a female Somalian, was being evaluated in the back of an ambulance when police began questioning her. Reports from the scene indicate that woman did not want to be "questioned by infidels" and became irate. Officers attempted to calm the female, who was with her son, but she began spitting at officers and resisting as they attempted to take her into custody. During the scuffle the female struck officers several times while spitting at them. A spit-mask was placed on the female and she was taken into custody without further incident. Police and investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the woman's volatile attitude.
