Are Somalis back home happier than Diaspora Somalis ?

Browsing thru social media and I have noticed most Somalians in the West are grumpy and gloomy whilst those back home have this positive, innocent out look in life . They seem to constantly talking about love and posting of snap/WhatsApp/Facebook status of Indian/Arabic love songs etc

Because they are delusional back home. They watch too much nolloywood and think that's how life is, plus they have never worked in their lives and live off their families in the west.

And they're very social back home, everyday there's gatherings with juicy talk.
In the west people are busy with work, uni, social media which makes us all depressed

Living in the city and participating in the rat race for a heavily taxed income at the end of the month which will be used to pay your bills and essentials?

Apparently most Somalis who grew up or at least spent good junk of time in Somalia or Africa and now live in the West develop what is called “homesickness” or “Boholyow” in Somali language. It is sort of depression and can be cured when one visits his homeland.

yep most Somalis in the diaspora are suffering from mild depression aka homesickness.

My friend told me as soon as his plane landed he felt like something heavy was lifted from him. He said he got the best sleep in 20 years.

they seem have more time, less pressure as another poster said they aren’t in rat race so they appreciate whatever little they have. In the West it seems the more we get the bigger our appetite becomes.

I’ve never been Somalia but I guess the reason for it because it’s stress free, the hours go slower and people socialise more. I get the same feeling when I travel to UAE

Yes we're all somalis. It's our motherland why wouldn't we like it.
As soon I'm educated and wealthy enough I'll be on a one way trip to Somali. It might be a disaster of a country but as Somalis it's our job to develop it
