Tigrinya people are one only divided by the pact that Menelik made with Italians. Are they Tigrayans that converted to Islam or a different ethnic group/community?
They are similar. But in Eritrea olmost halve of Tigray speak Tigrinya and the other halve Tigre.Tigrinya people are one only divided by the pact that Menelik made with Italians.
Greater Tigray was divided and part went under Menelik and the other Italians added it to Eritrea.
You should really re think what you write about your own community as this is a public forum. On another note, Eritrean jeberti are just normal Habesha so therefore do not look that different to SomalisMeanwhile Somali Jabertis... "I from yaman" "I from oman"View attachment 209394

There are lost Majeerteen in Eritrea, that's known and documented, I believe Warsangeli also.
However, I suspect they are not the ones who call themselves "Jeberti".
I have a friend of mind who is Eritrean. She claims jeberti people have a “look” and are easy to distinguish due to looking more arab. so was wondering if there’s any scientific evidence that distinguishes them from non Muslim tigrinyans. Some go to the extent of even wanting to be a new ethnic group in Eritrea. There is one Eritrean Jabarti who did a Big Y test and got this lineage:
Interesting there is an Oromo in there as well.
Looks like Oromos got their J1 from Habeshas. And that Jabarti is not an Arabic but of pre-Arab South Semitic origin.
Also Interesting there is a Persian Arab in there. Looks like Persian Arabs/East Gulf Arabs got some Yemeni origins partially.
