Are Beta Israel just Habesha who continued to believe in Judaism ?

They are identical to Tigray and Amhara. And Some Ethiopians link the persecution of Beta Israel in Ethiopia to a disagreement rooted in religious beliefs between Jewish Ethiopian and their newly converted Christians.

What you think?

They’re neither, they’re actually Agaw that recently shifted from Awngi or Qemant to Amharic

They were missionized in the 19th century by Faitlovich, they're Agew that stopped following new testament. Absolute negligible levantine DNA, zero relation to other Jews

Tafseer Al Baydhaawy Chapter 3 page 29

Verily (Musa) alayhi Asalaam was Adaam shadeed Al Udmah jet black.

تفسير البيضاوي ج 3 ص 27

روي: انه علي السلام كان ادم شديد الادمة.

The majority of the scholars understood the meaning of Adam in the description of Musa alayhi As Salaam to mean Adam Shadeed Al Udmah in other words ASWAD.

Imaam Al Alaamah Al Dhahabi says in his book Seera A’laam Al Nubalaa Chapter 2 page 168

‘They said Aswad (jet black) and this means whoever is covered in blackness. They say (jet )black or Shadeed Al Udmah.”

They look closer to Prophet Musa than these European Jews from Poland or Brooklyn

I knew this Ethiopian guy who told me when Israel came a lot of Christian habesha claimed they were Jewish and got a free ticket to Israel

It wasn't like there was a visa office in Addis taking them, they had to march to sudan in deadly journey where many died, then smuggled from Sudan to Israel.

I’ll give you some advice, whenever a Habesha says something is ancient, assume it’s younger than your awoowe. These motherfuckers said they have an ancient coffee ceremony

:heh:
I honestly wouldn’t believe this country even exists if I hadn’t gone there, a nation of Yemeni larpers and human zoos

They're related to the Agaw:

Qimant is another Agaw population that had some Hebraic practices but spoke Agaw. Today, I think all those people practice whatever the Habash around them adhere to, perhaps giving up their paganistic aspects as well.

I think the Beta Israelis were the more "Judaic" of the two, but you see the gradients between two cousin groups that likely give this practice some antiquity.

People only focus on the "Jewish" genetic influence. Their conversion could have been a social and traditional diffusion and synchronic with the Christian practices rather than the assimilation of Arab Jews. After all, the Kingdom of Axum invaded Yemen. At the time, people who received incursion in Southern Arabia were Jewish, although they stopped that practice shortly after. It means Axumites were in contact with people who practiced Judaism, and there is no reason to reject the ancestors of these Beta and Qimant folks to have been influenced by those late-stage Yemeni Jews.

Why is there only one Jew in the whole of Eritrea if they were descendant from Axumite refugees?

That is not a productive conversation. Eritrea and highland Ethiopia had different histories post-Axum and likely during as well, not to mention before - the region was never homogenous. That is the fallacy I see with Ethiopianist ideologues who want to force a picture of coherency and homogeneity of that region to fit a current ideological push. It does not work with people who know even minor historical recalling.

I think it’s even less believable that these people are descendants of 1500 year old proselytising refugees from Yemen when their effect on the region as a whole is a blip on the radar, at least most of them

You can believe whatever you want. At least read properly what I wrote since I clearly emphasized the syncretic tendencies of those people. Impact has nothing to do with this, that is changing the goalpost.

Their minimal impact, if that is true, could have come from the fact that groups like Beta Israelis were treated similarly to a lower caste, of pollutants, so they stuck to themselves, isolated from the rest, and one of the fundamental reasons they kept their ways longer.

And by the way, the mainstream Christian adherent Habash had strong leanings toward older Judaic practices that European Christians wanted to change later, so the notion of no impact might be totally wrong. But it could be that generally, all Habash was more like Beta Israelis until they slowly got changed through other Christians who wanted to standardize the beliefs and practices to reflect the European Christian way. But that is a different conversation.

You’ve been reading too much Ethiopianist mythology, The south of Lake Tana was Pagan tree worshippers till the 14th century so I don’t know where you’re getting this Jewish heritage from. I already read what you wrote, all Cushites have groups with designated roles that are discriminated against, if anything these guys are probably the Habesh version of Midgaan who tried to differentiate themselves.

What mythology? I literally broke down mythology. Moreover, I'm all about breaking down your people's mythology, the Oromos as well. :dead: You have a hard time reading what I actually write. This conversation is over.
