Well, I wouldn't disown them, more like talk to them and try to understand things. Which includes making dua for them because I don't want my child to go to Jahanam. If you disown them, they'll get angry and think you hate them causing them to never listen to you again.

It was suicide, his family didn't kill him. I don't think his family did anything wrong. They tried to detransify him and he responded by killing himself. So- what? They're supposed to just sit back and tolerate the trans stuff? I think they did the right thing. Him killing himself is on him.
I do want to say this, though- if there hadn't been some sort of Western influence, I doubt this wanting to be a tranny thing would have ever popped into his head. To me the moral of the story is take a hard line against allowing these types of influences.
Don't take this story as a justification for being a coward and backing down when it comes to these kinds of things. If you ever end up in a situation like what his family was in- don't be intimidated into backing down when it comes to combatting this kind of thing.

I personally don't really agree with transgender, but at least I acknowledge that they're still humans. Some of these parents threatening their children lives are doing too much, if you disagree with their lifestyle at least cut them off and let them be no need to wish death upon someone because you disagree with their believes or lifestyle.

Theoretically speaking since you brought up religion, you can't even abandon family according to the Quran and sunnah. Something about not breaking kingship and familial ties, pretty sure it's either haram or highly frowned upon.
