Really surprised by this viewpoint.

You may of had a point if Iran was ran by its educated, youthful and cultured counterparts. (I.e. the majority) instead, some dogmatic and backwards regime has been running the show since the revolution. (which initially had good intentions)

Iran has been a major influence in the instability of a number of middle-eastern nations (most recently Yemen sadly) whilst also being in bed with tsar Putin.

Iran and Saudi (governments, not the people) are two sides of the same coin.
