These tech companies think they're slick with shielding their privacy invading practices with "protecting children". The bad thing is that it works and anyone who is wary or outright against this gets called a pedophile among other things.
I was going to write about this. The algorithms are accurate all the time, which gonna result in false reports. And the so called " what happens in your phone stays in your phone " policy is gonna completely shit talk with the client-side search, which means that they gonna search in your phone directly from Photos app in the iPhone. Imagine what the authoritarian regimes gonna do with that.
It seems good, but if you looked at the security consequences, it's horrible especially if you were in authoritarian regime.
Haven’t looked into it much but if it is as reported then this could both be a game changer and extremely worrying for the future. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s misreported.
Apple have long prided themselves as the company of privacy and upholding it. Facebook on the other hand is based on selling your information as a profit model.
Now, Apple is being accused of breaching privacy and Facebook is its biggest opponent. The company that worked with Cambridge Analytica draws the line at searching phones for inappropriate child materials.
