Anyone have family in Turkey?

Most Somalis in Turkey are there only temporarily, either refugees on their way to Western Europe or students only there for a few years. Not many longtermers.

I know there Somalis in Istanbul but not sure if they were permanent residents. Personally, I don't want to bring my family to the West and Turkey seems like an ideal place and easier for me to visit

Brother @Samaalic Era I haven't been to turkey myself but by what I'm hearing it's not the best place to live in.. The Turks hardly speak English life is also difficult there.. I heard the Turks are not friendly people.. I think you can have a better quality of life in Africa.. Maybe Zambia or Tanzania or any other stable African country.

Thanks sxb. I have heard that they English is hardly used. I started hearing how Somalis from the west are know eyeing Turkey. I have one relative who wants to buy a house there and another who plans to live there. The problem with African countries is the expenses are high and I can't regularly visit. Turkey seems stable and modern but I don't it's reality as I have never been there.

Some Somali families are relocating there from European countries. They’ve bought houses and are settling there. We are ppl constantly on the move. Reero guur, must be the nomadic gene.

Thanks for the info sxb. :samwelcome:

I needed to know and it was hard getting the info and a few people told me that it's was £6000 :noneck:

This was for a student from somalia. They asked for 150 for health checks. 400 for the application process and 800 for the visa. I dont know other visas prices though

Yeah I heard this as well.. Somalis are also moving to Egypt.. It's not healthy to constantly be on the move...

The best thing to do is go there by yourself and assess the situation.. One of my friends is Turkish but he and the family only go there for vacation.. They have no plans on settling there which I find really strange if the living conditions are so good.

I'm not entirely sure how it was done, but my uncle spent €9k getting his SIL to Turkey. This includes tickets and potential bribes.

There are quite a few permanent residents in TR now. From what I have heard, many people are leaving the UAE and opting for Turkey.
