FL,REASON,ABLETON,GARAGEBAND,LOGIC & CAUSTIC all are good DAW's = Digital Audio Workstation.
If u want my opinion start whit caustic and when u get skilled hoop whit FL to take ur sounds to next level.
Learn about diffrent instruments:
1. Kicks,snare,clap,hihat and open hihats.
2. There are 100x brass and stings aka violins,flutes and synts etc etc.
3. Get familiar whit 4,8,16,32 and 64 bars and tempo which is very important it will determinate the songs speed and timing.
4. Learn music theory and develop good rythm/musical ear.
5. Copyright your trademark wich makes you unique.
6. Profit!

Next step will be: Automation and effects. You can put each sound in its own mixer channel and apply automated timing effects like: Reverb,delay,distortion,compressor ect ect 100 many more.

Music produsing is always fun it has many workflow stages.
- Writing music to produce full track
- Artist calls "Ghostwriter" to write the lyrics for him. Example: Cassidy & Future
- Sound engineers mix the vocals and the raw instrument track together for final release stage using thousands of dollar worth of equipment.
