Do yall ever notice Somalis get 1 billion times more angry at the mere THOUGHT of a woman not wearing a hijab or dating someone or blablabla than the objective FACT that somali men (not all but WAYY TOO MANY) join gangs, do drugs, kill each other etc????? It’s very fascinating how the former is talked about on the daily but the latter will be met with crickets and it’s exactly why idgaf what Somalis think like this is some low iq tribal mentality… control the women and let the men act like monkeys

like I’m a woman I don’t wear a hijab, I wear leggings and have a bf yall won’t believe the way Somalis stare me the hell DOWN in public even though am I doing anything wrong? Am I hurting anyone??? NOPE but yall wouldn’t believe the way these Somalis be staring me tf down like they’re about to catch me committing a murder or selling drugs and it’s sooooo funny to me that very likely could be just what their son, nephew or cousin is doing at that very moment…. but they wanna watch me ????? I’m flattered

If Somalis stared down men for their slight misbehaviours they way they stared at me I guarantee you somalia would become a first world country overnight

Because you see one thing to know about the world is every culture has this concept of watching over others too, but just in different ways, for example cadaan people do it to each other to the max actually but guess in what context…. they exert their “watchfulness” by how they abide the rules of their workplace/job tf etc, that’s why cadaan societies are very stable because if even ONE mf tries to screw you over they will be willing to go through even 10 years in court to get their dues over it

Somalis dgaf about “watching” others in the context of working, but in the context of “following the culture/religion” and sorry the way Somalis are applying it is not conducive to a developed and advanced society because they still do bribery, have so much corruption etc back home, my point is I actually don’t have an innate problem with Somalis watching me or anyone else for that matter but just the context is so ridiculous and unproductive is my point

Theres a story that reminds me of this

there is a guy and a donkey and a son. One day the father and the son and the donkey were walking on the road. The people jeered and stared until one man told him “put your son on the donkey, why are you making him walk”. So the man put his son on the donkey.

they continued walking until a group of men stared and jeered at the boy until one man told him “look at that boy on the donkey while he makes his father walk”. So the father ordered his son to get off and got on himself

But they hadn't gone far when they passed two women and one woman told the other "Shame on that lazy man to let his poor little son trudge along." So the father ordered the boy to get on the donkey.

By this time they had come to the town, and the passersby began to jeer and point at them. The men said, "Aren't you ashamed of yourself for overloading and hurting the back of that poor donkey of yours with you and your hulking son?"

moral of this story is to please yourself because people are always going to be unsatisfied regardless. Live how you want to live because people have spite and judgement in them. Somalis are very overfamiliar with each other. Make yourself happy always and put yourself first

Woman shaming doesn't work here sis. I can be a woman annd have my own views and opinions. We don't all have be a hive mind.

It can be rude definitely but dwelling on that fact won't change it. You dress more mainstream than I do. But I don't care what people think Somali or otherwise. I know why I wear what I wear and those people don't pay my bills or hold the keys to jannah for me.

I agree largely with your sentiment.

Laakin, I have zero issues with non-hijabi Somali girls. Most of the time when I see them I think good for you.

However, I noticed from their demeanour that they think I'm judging them for not wearing hijab. When it really I'm not.

So I feel sometimes they can be a bit paranoid.
