Long story short I got banned on a website I go on frequently and my ban doesn't expire till Jan of next year.

Doing research online I found out that you can't change your ip address with a cable modem and the only way to possibly get a new ip address is to unplug my modem overnight. So should I just keep on unplugging my modem every night till I get a new ip address or is there another way to do that?

Both will changer your ip address however with a proxy server you dont receive any protection.

If you have a netgear router it should have an option to change ip-adress

You might have but if you test putting in the adress given in your web browser you should find the options to change ip adress

If the site blocked your public IP here are the solutions:

1. Switch your router off and on; sometimes your internet provider's DHCP server assigns a new public IP when the router is switched off and on.

2. If that doesn't work change your Mac address (sure you can find a tutorial on YouTube) then switch your router off and on again.

3. Save yourself the time and invest in a good VPN service.

Stating the obvious here but don't use any information(emails and nicknames) which can be linked back to your banned accounts
