December 2015 here. I remember when there was an AbdiJohnson (@AbdiFreedom ?) on here verbally jihading against other Somalis with his Christopher Hitchens display pic and atheism whilst also, oddly enough, claiming to have founded the site. I also remember that a lot of early members here were migrants from Somnet like our delightful ayeeyo @Basra.

What counts as old...I am impressed Somalispot is thriving given how the age of the Somali forums is coming to an end. particularly with the rise of Facebook and other anonymous forums such as Reddit.

I have been a member on somnet since 2006 and Somalinaonline about the same time.
if some of you peeps remember Somalilife forums pre-facebook shoutout!. Also others like Somalilandnet, saylac.com etc.


as a uni student, I spent every evening browsing through many Somali news sites (Which almost all now vanished) and copy-paste links to invigorate debate.

Somali internet before mass social media was lit wallahi!.


I was apprehensive about joining this place but the pandemic boredom got the best of me. but with time I realized its a miniature version of all the above, a sanctuary for the qurbojoog to "anonymously" post stuff about Somalis...

If I am not mistaken Basra and Abdijohnson both Hajired from other sites....
