Funnily enough I heard that term years go on Somali forums , apparently when Somalis encountered Cuban soldiers they thought they were fat and stocky , so that’s the nickname they were given . So I was suprised to hear my mum said it in real life .

My mom is communist kacaanist and an ultra Salafi don't ask me why and how. Most likely because she was an "orphan" and grew up in Siyaad Barre's military schools. She says that Somalia was way better off when the government controlled the economy. Her Salafi ideology comes from the qabiil switching to Salafism lol.

That's right! I heard that the Somalia and Ethiopia war in 1977 Somalis use to call Cubans Kuuba naas dheer, and the Russian they use to call them Ruush kaba weyne. Of course both names were insult.

Somali Communist Government use to use the word Jaalle every time they call or announce a government official. Jaalle means comrade or a fellow communist
