Have u guys watched the slave movie Amidstad? Anthony plays John Quncy Adams before he became a president. He tried a slave case. Very moving acting. He won the case basically by comparing the Mende tribe slaves ancestors he was defending, to his own ancestors, ie the founding fathers of America. A Mende custom they had was to invoke their ancestors for wisdom. Adams basically asked the so called civilized court, how different is it for us to invoke our own ancestors, the founding fathers, Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, etc etc in which they stated in the In the Declaration of Independence that ALL human are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" including "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.β"
Anthony Hopkins's performance was amazement itself.
