My local mosque had a shir/event 2 weeks ago to prevent people from doing Jihad. They hired a local scientist/professor whos and expert on middle eastern/west bank politics to explain whats going on there. They brought him in in the hopes to educate anyone who had thought of blowing up anything like the Brussel terrorist. Great initiativ, but it makes you wonder why that is needed

You tend to find people who are easily influenced in Mosques, a lot of the time you get parents who push kids who fallen behind in their academic studies into mosques.

They learned to repeat and not think for themselves, compared to theologian of the past who were experts in their field and had studied all manners of science and philosophies.
