Basically they are like Ethiopia, Addis is their good city and the rest Outside of it is mainly crap.
This thread highlights once again why the FGS needs to rebuilt the waterfront of Mogadishu as soon as possible and hire real urban architects like Omar Degan for a cohesive Master plan, since people will always base their opinion of how well a country is doing by how its capital looks. That said, I would still take prewar Mogadishu’s cosmopolitan charm over Luanda any day of the week, any week of the month, any month of the year, and any year of my life x 4. Its frustrating to think where it would have been today with another 3 decades of uninterrupted unified development, as it would surely rank alongside the most beautiful cities of the Mediterranean like Casablanca, Barcelona, Istanbul, Athens, Lisbon, etc;

You're right, the CCP will not let you make videos that are negative about the country. We can agree on that.
Here is the problem, if they always knew it was as bad as they say it was, why did they make tons of videos talking positively about it? Why did they live there for years, get wives, nest comfortably if it was as bad as they claim, and make many videos only talking positively about the country?
The central theme here is profit.
Ethically, if I know somewhere is pure hell, I am not going to build a brand for the country and paint it positively for money because that would be a fraud and morally bankrupt, right?
Here is the rational assessment of their behavior:
Talking positively about China while living in the West does not bring money. Only living in China filming does. Do you know what does bring money while in the West? Talking negatively. That brings a lot of revenue as we've seen with their videos. With that, they flipped it 180, to the most extreme to maximize financial benefits.
These guys are what you call profiteers mongers, opportunists, money-centered, etc.
This already shows how unethical these people are by showing their lack of morals within their own value conditions.
The real truth lies between their two extremes. I am under no illusion about some aspect of China that is rather dystopian. After all, it is a society where current generations of our age lack, uncles, aunts, cousins, or siblings. It does not foster normal socialization. This causes a big collective issue, of self-centered individuals who only think about themselves and obsess only to change material wealth status trying to climb the steps of social mobility. There is no sense of community in urban China life, every person is for themselves. You can see in a video where a woman had an accident in an elevator and the person behind her refused to help because how helping might cause a bigger problem than her potentially dying. This, of course, was one person and I would not say that every Chinese would have done the same but I think it reflects a deep social ill there.
We can go further and look at the Ughuyr issue, where they systematically try to weaken their deen for the love of the state and break down their sense of community towards Hanified social condition, or how Islamic places of worship are removed, made to look like Chinese temples, and controlled for what is being said within it.
There are plenty of things to talk about within China that are mature and insightful. These guys we were talking about are another problem. They are money-hungry with no integrity and agenda-driven.
I know about the gutter oil thing. Asuredly it curbed my enthusiasm for ever eating street food in China.
Angola has a quota on the amount of workers that must be Angolan in these projects. Like 90 %, seems to be 70 % these days
