Well, I’m a 4th generation American, but my Somali lineage is from the territory that was once known as British Somaliland and the Ogaden region. My paternal great grandpa came over during the 1930s-40s. The history of early Somali Americans is underrated asf. Of course, they pissed off caadans and maadows equally and Jim Crow still couldn’t erase our superiority complex and deep seeping hatred of manual labor.
