Came across this very wholesome Facebook group of Ajnabis who lived in Mogadishu and went to the American School of Mogadishu. Some interesting and beautiful pictures. A lot of nostalgia and bittersweet posts. The school opened in 62 and closed in 91.

Good find . I had no idea there were ajanabis who came to see the istuunka festival in afgooye .

I scrolled through for a while, but it just made me sad. It's rare to see non Somalis bigging up Somalia and especially Mogadishu. So much tourism potential wasted.

Some of them said they would like to visit but I don't think the city looks anywhere near as good as it did back then.

How somali ppl stand their own when they Let foreigners built schools tht somali ppl dont and let non somali language to be teached and their ideology those schools are owned and run by somali ppl how is tht standing our own feet when somali ppl dont and cant built schools for themself and depend on foreigners to do everything for them while every country built schools system for themselves and didnt allow foreigners to built for them
