Iraq is not a success, neither is Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, etc, these are all failures of US foreign policy. Iran isn’t comparable to any of the above. I don’t think a direct war will take place, but if were to happen, it would not fare well for the US the way these comments suggest.

The chance of a direct war is never going to happen, nobody gains anything. There'll be, however, increased attacks on US bases in the ME and Anti-American viewpoint will grow in popularity. Suleimani's death will be used for more political brownie points than a casus belli for a suicidal war.

I do predict that Iran will be the main power in the region, directly as a result of this.

While Millennium Challenge 2002 is likely a stretch and the US is more powerful and will likely ultimately win, it highlights that war between the two will be an extremely bloody affair. Most American allied nations in the Middle East will probably be destroyed as that's Iran's military mantra for war with America in the Middle East. It may even be a pyrrhic victory for the United States as the resulting shift in power dynamics may allow Russia and/or China to overtake them militarily. Russia is already close with a more advanced missile defence system in the S-400 compared to the Patriot system, 5th generation fighter jets that are of reasonable quality, and a significant lead in hypersonic weapons. A hot war with Iran is not in America's interests.

How would that have any effect? All it would do is strengthen the US economy and give them even more area of strategic influence, Russia and China would be far weaker militarily if the don’t get involved as we’re gonna be in control of a border country with them in Iran

How exactly were they failures? Yes they were unjust wars but with the gains US made on oil and in the military industry, while also winning the war I don’t see how they were failures

War would just ramp up military spending as further fuel the military industrial complex, US would be stronger militarily after a war with Iran not weaker, thus Russia and there puny economy wouldn’t be able to catch up
