I was checking the GDP per capita list and it is really underappreciated in the discourse how the US has left even the richest European couuntries in the dust. To be barely below Qatar which is extremely oil rich and has 1 percent of the American population is insane. Everyone above the US has population <10 million and is either a Tax Haven or Oil producing nation.

Way too OP, the West is essentially just America now.

America is a good country to live in if you're doing well, but it is an absolute hellhole if you're poor. The European countries may be less wealthy, but the floor is higher due to the social safety nets and welfare programs.

There are very, very few reasons to be poor in the west, especially in America.

Back to OP: The Europeans and the Canadians are not very productive and welfare obsessed.

To be honest, while America is undeniably wealthy, one of the main reasons it ranks high on the list is due to its lack of life-work balance in comparison to Western European countries.

A better comparison would be EU vs US. Or better yet China vs US. How does manufacturing in the US compare with that of the EU, esp. Germany?

America has extreme wealth for the rich, but the non-rich arent better off than non rich in Europe just check out their gini coefficient. And you also need to take into account their HDI.
