1. her district is all of Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs---Somalis are not a "large portion of her votes." She could win without a single Somali vote
2. her base is progressive/educated people and all her actions so far resonate with her base...minus the affair, which is a personal issue not a political one
3. the issues Somalis face are not ones that can be addressed by government. somalis are fucked over by their own maladaptive culture and social model---government cant fix that, especially a single congresswoman. Besides, Ilhan is an American politican and not a Somali one

But let me ask you a question. What would she have to do for you to be satisfied on this point? What kind of improvements will a politician have to bring for you to be satisfied?
A large portion of her voters are white. She could of not had the Somali vote and she would of still won.
I only support her platform because she’s takes up Bernies policies. She was just at his campaign speech the other day with a sold out crowd.
This is America. She doesn’t owe nothing to Somalis. Every Somali American has the same opportunities to succeed as the next man.

We as Somali Minnesotans in her district should not vote for someone who supports Medicare for all, the green new deal, public college, student debt relief because obviously those things won’t help us Somali Americans.
the district is as blue as it gets. No Republican can win there and they don’t bother. It’s like Dems caring for some district in Alabama. The question is has Ilhan been positive or negative for the Somali name? She don’t have to campaign to keep her seat. Her only competition is her being investigated for ethics.
Ethics wise, it’s looking pretty bad for her. The whole marrying your brother thing might bite her in the ass down the line.
As for positive or negative to the Somali name, I think that’s pretty irrelevant, expecially in a place like America. Right wing people that don’t like minorities, wouldn’t like her no matter what. The rest are neutral.
Plus Americans like bold, in your face type of people. That’s one of the reasons how trump got elected. They love buuq and baliyo. And she brings that.
