The UN may have their own agenda but they’re not entirely wrong. Somalis having unlimited access to arms is like allowing a late stage dementia patient to drive a car, absolute madness. The arms embargo being lifted is a dream come true for terrorist al-Shabab who already extort businesses and would find means to import unlimited arms which would empower them militarily. The arms embargo would also empower clannist militias and corrupt politicians who are either going to use those weapons for their own greedy agenda or they are going to arm and fight alongside militias under the pretext of “somalinimo” (when they’re really just fighting other clans/groups). Somalis are not mature with the arms embargo being lifted. As long as corruption and tribalism exists within the government and wider society, May Allah never lift the arms embargo until Somalis learn to be mature and we see significant progress.

Al Shabaab have zero presence in any of the areas that SL controls. They have no bases in Sanaag.

yes this makes me angry. I have heard about what happened with the ICU. even that video on them... something like "sharia brought to chaotic Somalia"... there was some video by a Western outlet I'm sure many have seen (it's on YouTube)... even they admitted that the ICU brought peace. the other thing I noted was how the video mentioned that ICU helped overcome qabilism.

from what I understand, ICU would have been way better and it makes me angry that the US and Ethiopia went after them.

the US and the West have this idea that their version of "democracy" has to be forced on everyone... obviously the icu would not have implemented a Western style government but the West should consider whether their system is right for everyone and accept that their system isn't right for all societies... and then go further and realize it actually isn't right even for them

They are a paper tiger, and it's quite obvious that foreigners fund them and traitors in the FGS feed them intel. I believe they can easily be defeated. We just need to get rid of aminsom and all other foreign elements first. Then create a task force of soldiers from every region including SL (if they are willing to help) and Liyu. The FGS cannot relay on just their foreign troops, they need help from their own kin not aminsom. If alshabab is defeated, then it will be the second Somalia is reborn.

They are not strong. They hide, and carry out a heavy attack once a year and then disappear back to the jungles. If federal government is serious about it, they can hunt them down and kill them all. there's no fucking way Somalia is going to make any type of progress as long as these savages are there. HSM needs to stop everything else and focus 100% on them.
