I mean I get your point, my issue is that Somalia has so many more issues that should be at the forefront and immigration —in my opinion— is at the lower end of the totem pole.

like yeah sure we could be cracking down on this, but if we do, how much improvement will that bring us compared to cracking down on other issues like corruption.

Why should we copy them? If they want to waste their efforts on random discrimination and attacks. We don’t have to do the same.

even deporting a single Oromo costs manpower, gas and time. We have to escort them out of the nation. No matter how efficient and how much we herd them into trucks like cattle, we are still wasting money, power and resources into this.

just the logistics of deporting thousands of oromos is not something worth “multitasking” for.

in 10 years if we have reliable infrastructure, government and a non-starving working population. Can we start securing the border.

They already live there protected and in ESTABLISHED sheegad relationship with their hosts for centuries, plus Al shabab recruits from them. during the AS incursion into DDS during 2022, Al shabab was able to raise a battalion of oromo fighters to infiltrate DDS and sneak into the Bale mountains. A battalion is over 1000 men fyi. They were successful despite the claims of the Ethiopian government.

Majority of Oromos are actually followers of Ethiopiawinet (Ethiopian nationalism, literally 'Ethiopianism' or 'Ethiopianess') instead of Oromummaa (Oromo nationalism, literally Oromoness). This is especially true among the Muslim regions of Oromia (which is the origin point for most migrants).

Yes there are a few cranks among them, but I do not think they pose a big threat tbh. Just people from a kaffir country making Hijrah.

Oromummaa and Ethiopianism are not mutually exclusive. There is the political oromumma that Dr Jalata advocates of self-determination and there is the “cultural” oromumma that is a more encompassing ideology of the oromo identity and where they see themselves in the broader horn. It is also a consistent ideology of the oromo for centuries that began to be shaped to what it is now.

If i am reading your thoughts right I think you are dangerously thinking that oromumma is incompatible with religion when it is not. It is very compatible, a muslim oromo migrating into somali regions then decades later claiming those regions are oromo lands is a coherent ideology.

But im also realising we could also be talking about two different things lmk.

Just an observation, how comes the Oromos are way more in number in puntland and Somaliland. The numbers in those two regions are significant. But in the southern regions and Xamar there is no oromo population or very little.

What's making them go to those regions and not the south. Is it because those regions are more stable and welcoming or they see more opportunities there?

1. North is more stable, peaceful and wealthier
2. If if they go south they will have to cross through Shabaab lands and when they do that Shabaab captures them and forces them to fight for them in exchange for a small sum or indoctrinate them if they're muslim, a lot of Shabaab fighters are kidnapped Oromo or kidnapped IDP kids

Exactly, many of them just buy a sim card and take advantage of the digital wallet system we have, I seen a video on Facebook of an Oromo saying he was making 3 times his salary in birr by doing menial jobs, a doctor in Ethiopia makes as much as a shoe cleaner in Hargeisa

There should be some requirements before being able to open a mobile money account, like being citizen or having an ID card or something

The thing is Somali governments have no control over big telecom companies, this is the reason FGS still can't tax the billions flowing through mobile money every month, Telecom companies are literally the key to the success of the Somali people, they literally control the whole economy

Lol you must not know how they work, SL government used to deport them a lot back then in cages on the back of trucks, you drop them off at the SL border and they will just walk back to Hargeisa and be there by the next week at the same spot you took them from
