OPINION Al Shabab should be negotiated with

Fighting them for 11 years and 4,000 innocent Somalis have died with less than 100 being government officials and 99% being civilians. They should get the Janan treatment. I'm done with useless wars at least lets have a 2 year ceasefire and see what we can build from their on.

Al-Shabaab exists because Somalia’s an economic and judicial mess. Negotiating won’t change anything. People have problems and if the government is of no use then its no surprise they’ll join them.

Al-Shabab offers people protection and opportunities where the government doesn’t. It’s why training all of these soldiers for the past 4 years is so useless compared to the economic progress we could have made.
