Man how are these guys able to tax people in areas they don’t govern or control like Mogadishu.

they got government employees like port officials giving some of their wages to them to leave them alone even though they could be targets.
Apparently all the big businesses pay up and and normal citizens have to pay yearly “zakat” to them and if you just landed in from From the middle east or the west from the airport expect to receive a call from them soon they got agents everywhere, in the article it’s says they collect more revenue than the government if that’s the case how can Somalia make these guys irrelevant sadly it lookslike these guys are not going anywhere any time soon to be fair the threat is real sometimes they bomb these Restaurants what solutions do you think it will take cleanse Somalia has The government done enough in the last 10 years?

damn unbelievable, these guys aren’t even hiding like that then the government/police presence must be almost non existent in the capital apart from their green zones.

There are BIG ENTIRE TOWNS which have Al-Shabaab checkpoints bro. I don't want to get into more detail but that is how casually they stroll in Somalia.
