Thanks again. I a homegrown kid trying to live up to the name of my ancestors. But the conflict has taken a huge toll on my relatives, which is why I'm very much engaged on-and-offline

You're very connected to your Arab roots as well. Unfortunately, it has died with my grandparents on my end, and sadly our family don't claim it no more. Our only ties today is limited to the Arabic language (if we exclude Islam)

I grew up with it, so I'm indifferent to eating it with shaah. But I've also eaten at other places, and ngl I've thought about quitting for good due to how badly they were and the bad taste it left behind. For me, it's all about how it's cooked. Though, I can't imagine a life without it. It's the most unique Somali combination ever, more so than bariis iyo moos

I have it with saliid macsaro and a bit of sugar, then I roll it. Then I drink it with coffee or tea
