Age gap marriages

Why do some older somali men go back home to marry young, poorer brides? Three of my abtis who are in their 40s have married girls around my age (18, 19 and 21). I don’t see what the appeal is. The girls are obviously only marrying them because of their circumstances, and that’s just sad. It just rubs me the wrong way. Have you guys seen this too or is my family just f*cked lol. Thoughts?

It's just how it is. If I am in my mid-twenties, I'll probably marry a 16 year old from badiyo. If I'm in my 30's-40's I'll marry a 18 year old from badiyo.
