SSAs population peak has been revised down by the UN to 3.4 billion from over 4 billion back in the 2010s lots of countries are experiencing a demographic transition such as Senegal,kenya,ghana etc

I’d say rapid economic growth, people tend to forget Africa is urbanizing at a much higher and quicker rate then other continents.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone, Africa’s birth rate has been declining for quite a while now

The crazier thing is certain regions and ethnic groups in Africa are experiencing a faster drop then others this is happening in Many countries the demographics of certain countries will change forever

I think it's partly due to overexaggeration and overestimation of africas population growth that's being checked by data on the ground. If we were to take kenya as an example the un predicted that kenyas population in 2019 would be around 52,573,973 but the census revealed that there were 47,564,296 a difference of around 5 million.

Of course there is corruption in kenya but the margin of error is big. Revised numbers based and optimistic prediction in the past is being corrected in light of new data such as census and birth rates.

The UN medium fertility projection is by far the most accurate. They have 3.9 Billion Africa by 2100

The medium projection for TFR in 2022 was too high for Nigeria but actually quite a bit lower for Kenya & Tanzania. Will need to see a few other countries to say for sure. There's a DHS census coming out soon for a lot of African countries, will be good to compare.

Yeah the United Nations had to decrease the population projections for Africa by 500 million from 4.4 to 3.9 billion it will probably go down even more in the future good thing is 40 percent of the world population will be African

Somalis should expand as much as possible. Keep a big birthrate even as a stable nation by paying for free education and childcare so women have more kids. Population is destiny so we need a large nation to hold power
