Gambela being one of the last regions to be conquered by Ethiopia and having the richest people (minus cities ofc) is really funny

Kinda weird how you never hear about them tho, I've never ever seen a single Gambella city or town

I just looked it up and its probably because most of them are still rural, their capital city is well planned but nearly empty

I’m not a self hating weirdo like you, 600k people died in the the Tigray war, about 100k dead in the Amhara conflict, but but Ethiopia is building shiny skyscrapers and roads

Given the uhh genre of most Ethiopia based news I think that is a good thing!

Also the reason why they seem to be more well off is because there is no wars there, there is no big ethnic or religious disputes there, the oppressive Addis gov does not really care about them (besides the occasional kidnaping during wartime).

All of this means that their pastoralists have nothing stopping them from increasing their herds, the farmer has nothing stopping him from increasing his yields, the merchant has nothing stopping his sales.

This stability is the bedrock to everything, compare this to other regions that have to reset their development every 5-10 years.
