All the wealth of the country has basically been concentrated in one city, no wonder no one outside of Addis is happy

Ethiopia's national GDP per capita is 900 USD

Addis Ababa's GDP per capita is 11,000 USD and it accounts for 30% of the country's whole GDP

Yea I know lol. Typical of a lot of SSA countries. Step outside of the holy capitol of the kingdom and you'll think you arrived in Slums, India.
Why has Ethiopia's governments focused significantly more on the development of Addis rather than other regions? : r/Ethiopia

I'm not sure about the names of the neighbourhoods but i went to both the very rich places and the places where normal people live and it was night and day. the first day i stayed in a hotel where the actual diplomats were and it looked quite nice and then i went to places where i could actually see people walking around because in the first neighbourhood there were barely any people around and when i went there i saw a lot of beggars and the ground wasn't even paved which is normal for africa i guess but with rain it became very mudy and generally dirty. also in the other poorer neighbourhood in that hotel i was in there was a group of street dogs fighting in front of my hotel and they were barking so loudly i couldnt sleep.

Yeah half of the city lives in informal housing but the other half is living good ngl

I meant Addis looks good as a tourism thing but I would hate living there, but now with all the stuff they're building Im considering going there someday

Addis is overrated, it’s just like 2 streets which are developed, the rest of the city is congested, dirty and full of slums
Stop lying its def more than 2 streets, and everyday they build something new

Even if it was only 2 streets can you show me one somali city that remotely looks like this

Instead of being jealous you guys should try to achieve this in your tuulos
