Okay about somaliland.
I was thinking how somaliland's landscape looked like before desertification. I was checking Twitter until I came to this picture

Also most animals who live in the African Savannah used to roam throughout somaliland.

Somaliland isn't arid it can atleast be considered semi arid because Somalia which includes somaliland has a rainy season and a dry season which all African Savannah's have whether you are talking about south Africa Tanzania or Uganda look:

But an arid place like the Sahara which is expanding to Somalia and making Somalia unfortunately part of the sahel like Djibouti

The jubba and shabelle used to have semi forests and grassland. Areas like galmudug and southern Puntland are semi-arid ( basically the first picture) along with southern parts of Somaliland and the Awdal region. However, northern puntland and somaliland in the mountainous regions near Cal madow have high precipitation and are similar to the highlands of israel and palestine or yemen.

Cal madow is particularly beautiful and is home to fauna and flora native specifically to somalia.

The shameful and retard reer 68 are causing deforestation and bird species are losing their only native homes.

Hmm Interesting. Although i firmly believe our land was once green and lush . Even saudi arabia was green and lush. The only issue is overgrazing and deforesting trees for charcoal since our forefathers did not ever have to combat climate change and did not have any clue that what they were doing would harm the soil and cause droughts. However being nomads i believe that they learnt to adapt to the harsh climate once the rains stopped coming regularly. Even today we still have a chance to reverse this damage by teaching our nomads how to graze correctly and planting trees all around the country. We can bring dried up rivers back to life and make them perennial so that we can irrigate crops and farms around the region.

Tbh i think south states will have an easier time making their lands fully green again because they have rivers that they can divert to irrigate fields. Where as in the north we need to plant more trees to cool down the climate slightly and to rejuvenate the nugaal valley river so that the surrounding region can thrive and become lush.

Why don't people back home see our wildlife as a opportunity to boost our tourism and start doing something about it before complaining about another drought

Most Somalis don't care about our wildlife back home as well as diaspora
A lot of our wildlife will go extinct in 50 years we will have nothing left

Its not even about tourism. Somali people have killed themselevs and now look to exploit our vulnerable wildlife. I think certain protection agencies should be created

Honestly our first priority is to build up infrastructure and tackle the drought issue and desertification. After that i guarantee you all the issues we have faced so far ( fighting over wells, drought, starvation) will go away since their will be less competition amongst ourselves. Once we tackle these harsh conditions then you will start to see a better ppl in the homeland. Harsh climates breed stubborn ppl since they have to fight against nature constantly but we can change that for the better.

Are lions or leopards still present in the north are there still places where leopards and lions could thrive in somaliland

Leopards would over the mountains where there are forests in cal madow. I think @Suldaanka said he saw some up there, but who knows locals don't explore that deep in cal madow. Lions have no where right now as far as nature reserves go in somaliland. We could make nature reserves tho in future.

Plenty of leopards and all forms of deer/antelopes in cal madow
