Lmao do you even know the difference between a coast guard and a navy, this is literally like comparing the police to the army

They both serve the same function and work with eachother. The difference is Navy is connected to the Army and the Coast Guards are connected to the Police .

Ethiopia has a coast guard and they are going to become just another landlocked country with a naval and marine force, maybe it will be useful in patrolling their rivers just like the rest of them:

A navy is meant to defend and possibly engage in naval engagements. For Somalia, the emphasis will always be on defence only, so only defending their waters and enforcing the law. In this instance, the coast guard or navy both serve the same purpose. You can't compare to other well off countries.

If FGS had a navy it would solve many sovereignty problems starting with Puntland so they would defenetly have to do some offence in their own waters, it cant even be remotely compared to a coast guard, in fact fgs barely have a coast guard PL and SL have better equipped and more functional coast guards



It doesnt matter anyways its only a matter of time before they get a navy cause Turkey agreed to completely rebuild their navy and build a navy HQ, the Navy commander of FGS went to Turkey and placed orders

Btw both SL and PL were against Turkey building up FGS a Navy cause they know someday FGS will have the authority to blockade their ports, since both SL and PL rely on port revenues this will be very big for FGS

To make things clear Im not against it, its a very good thing considering shabab get their weapons by sea and all the ajnabi ships who deplete the waters unpunished

Its not 1982 anymore, invading Somalia is diplomatic suicide FGS has too many connections with the west and other countries worldwide, Al Shabaab also makes it impossible, Somaliland would definitely also not fall easily, Djibouti is protected by the whole world due to its military bases, safest bet for them is southern Eritrea, its the only part of the afar depression that has a paved road into Eritrea and abiy renovated the road in 2021, he also wouldnt have to fight on two fronts against the EDF if he invades there

Also Abiy has good relations with PL and SL so why would he ruin that by invading

Jubaland under madoobe is possible that they get a dekad, madoobe hates fgs and has a strong alliance with abiy, but Shabaab would still makes it impossible once again

Realistically, Ethiopia cannot invade a united Somalia even if the country is very poor, in 1964 Haile Selassie tried invading right after independence when Somalia barely had an army and he still lost

It was always like that throughout history even though Somalis are way smaller in number, when faced under a common threat they become more united, while for Ethiopia most soldiers didn't even speak the same language, the outcome just makes sense

Also dont forget 2006, without US guidance Ethiopia literally wouldnt have made it past Gedo, the ICU was really beating them bad only advantage Ethiopians had were tanks and the ICU didnt have enough RPGs and bombs to destroy them, ICU also pulled out many times to avoid destroying Somali cities due to heavy US bombing and Ethiopian artillery fire

Best Ethiopia can do in Somalia is destabilize and make the government weak/subservient like they've always done with TNG and TFG, but they can never invade or annex it, they got Ogaden through a treaty btw they didnt even fight for it
